Plagiarism Defined
In the broadest sense, plagiarism involves claiming as your own someone else's thoughts, ideas and/or words.

MLA Format
If you quote someone or use their idea, cite it.

Parenthetical citations should be used within your paper.  For example: (Donovan 1). 

Your works cited page should list authors' last names alphabetically, flush with the margin, followed by the title of the work in quotations (if an article or poem) or underlined (if a book). 

Basic book format: Author(s). Title of Book. Place of Publication: Publisher, Year of Publication.   (from OWL)

Academic Standards at FPC
Offense number one may result in failure of the assignment and/or course.  The dean of academic affairs will also be notified, and he'll put the offense on your permanent record. *strike one*

The second time it happens, you will will be suspended for one semester.  *strike two*

Your third offense is *strike number three.*  You will be expelled from the college indefinitely.
