Nuclear
Ambitions
--Despite efforts by UN member
countries to stop Iran’s nuclear program, President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad has continued uranium enrichment at a research facility
in Natanz. Although Iran claims that the program is for peaceful
purposes, officials monitoring the facility say that’s not the case.
The United States has vehemently criticized the program, even
proposing sanctions as a penalty for Iran’s defiance of the global
community. The possibility of more nuclear weapons in the Middle
East is a scary prospect. Analysts worry that nukes will spread
chaos to the already unstable region. However, America’s ongoing
operations in Iraq and Afghanistan have severely limited its
military options. So what does this mean for US foreign policy?
Read on to find out
what the future might bring to this troubled hotspot.

Mardi Gras --Residents of New Orleans and people around
the world are still finding reasons to celebrate
Mardi Gras
and Fat Tuesday. Although
the crowds are much smaller, many locals and out-of-towner's are
still celebrating in the French Quarter. People in New Orleans
and around the country have mixed views about whether the Mardi
Gras celebration was appropriate or not. Some people feel it was
a much needed lift for the city, while others feel that it was
impossible for those most heavily hit to enjoy the festivities.
Indeed, the images of people celebrating amongst the destruction
has been an awkward sight. This Mardi
Gras has certainly been much smaller than in years past. One
third of New Orleans' restaurants and businesses are still
closed because of Katrina.
Residents are hoping that the festivities will give the city a
boost.
