You haven't experienced Pierce without kayaking on Pearly.

Kayaking is ridiculously fun. I started last year and have become hooked for life. I should have asked for a kayak for my birthday, instead of the money and checks that I turned into nothing but food and beer.

You haven't really gone to Franklin Pierce until you step out onto Pearly Pond. Yeah it is a little grimy and rust colored but it gives you a whole different perspective on the school. I am about to graduate and as rough as the winters seem, and as tough and repetitive as some of the schoolwork gets I'm really going to miss the fall and spring atmosphere when you can b-b-q and drink outside despite what C.S. or Rindge P.D. has to say. If you ask me it can be a lot of fun avoiding them both.

Anyway back to kayaking, I fell in the water the other day and I figured that it would ruin my whole day. It was nothing major, except when my friends were laughing at how much of a stupid move it was. I couldn't muster the energy in my lungs to get a rebuttal. Maybe it was the hypothermia beginning to set in, but I had my phone, my USB drive, my wallet and my car keys on me.

Although my phone didn't work for a few days it is a survivor and wouldn't let me down. Just before I was about to purchase another one I decided to see if she would turn on one last time, and remarkably she did. At the same time I didn't mind losing contact with everyone for a few days, it was actually relaxing.

Canoeing is also fun as well. My whole life I enjoyed boats with some sort of horsepower or being dragged by one in a tube, or on a ski or a kneeboard. There is definitely some therapy that can be found on the water.

You can do a lot of thinking while you are out there as well, I said to one of my buddies, "you really can view the school from a different perspective altogether." He replied, "No man, you can really look at life from a whole different perspective." Both perspectives were true, life really is different on Pearly Pond.

I have also heard some tall tales going around campus of a giant sea turtle that was found dead. I really wanted to see this thing too, but the only dead thing I got to see was a smelly Sunny that was floating along in my path, I should have kept it.

Oh yeah, the Spin Doctors and the Nappy Roots will be here this Saturday, spring weekend. Look out for us seniors making our rounds and partying like the rock stars that we have grown into.
