Bombing in Darfur-Since 2003 tens of thousands of people have been killed
and 2.5
million forced from their homes in the Sudan region of Darfur. Pekka
Haavisto of UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) vistited the area
and described seeing Antonov planes being loaded for the attack; and seeing
young children that had been injured by the bombings.
War crimes are being investigated by the ICC
(International Criminal Court). The Sudanese government has recently
rejected over 20,000 peacekeeping troops being deployed in Darfur by the
United Nations Security Council.
September 11th 5 years later -This week our nation remembered one of the saddest days in
American history September 11th. Moments of silence were
participated in across the country at the moments the planes
struck the towers.
The president was at Ground Zero in
New York City to take part in the memorial services.
Also services took place
in Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania where the other attacks
took place.
