The Boston Freedom Rally

Over the past 4 months I have been waiting for this Saturday, the Boston Freedom Rally, the second largest pro-cannabis rally in the United States. Over the summer I had the privilege of attending a Marijuana Policy Project workshop in New Jersey. I got to meet some of the organizers of the Seattle Hempfest the largest event of its kind in the country, and learned just what goes into and what it takes to put on the rally every year.

I now have an understanding of why this event is so important to its organizers and really how much it means to the community of people against prohibition. Hearing people say Hempfest makes many of those who put the long hours into the rally cringe because that is what they do in Seattle. This rally is supposed to not only be a celebration of marijuana reform but also civil rights ,and the freedoms given to us by the constitution. People don't understand that this is a political event, and aren't willing to take the time to educate themselves with the vast amounts of information and conversation at there disposal.

Many people aren't willing to stand up for there rights and I applaud the large group of people that will be taking the trek from FPC to the common. I hope anyone who really has an interest in economics, criminal justice, or  just don't agree with the war on drugs will attend. Hopefully you can leave Boston with a better understanding of the true impact of the war on drugs in our society. So I hope everyone takes some time to go into town on Saturday afternoon and enjoy there personal freedoms, liberties , and an educational experience like no other.
