A trip down memory lane

I came to the realization the other day that I am indeed addicted to Facebook. I don't see it as a bad addiction, I know I can give it up if I really wanted to, but I don't. I've had Facebook for about a year and a half now. Not until recently have I begun to really interact on the site and check it everyday, but then one of my classmates from middle school decided to start a group about our old school George Bannerman Dealey Montessori Academy in Dallas, Texas.

The group has sparked a lot of questions and memories about our younger selves. The topic of conversation includes: school lunches, what we did in gym, orchestra practice, teachers, classmates and various other topics about what we had done. A few have even posted pictures, it's strange to see yourself at that age and even more amazing to see the ways you have changed.

Now we're all "grown up" to say in the least and our lives have taken another turn. Most of us are about to graduate from college in the next couple of years, we start to realize that the worries and problems we had back then pale in comparison to the ones we have now. All we had to worry about back then a fellow peer from the past once said, "back then you only had to worry about how sweaty Ms. Cleo was, or what you were going to play in gym." It's true. Ms. Cleo was the "mean" lunch lady, but made the best brownies, maybe because we were younger she was scarier and if we were to meet her now things would be different. Gym consisted of  volleyball, kickball, and the annual mile long run, which no one actually ran the entire mile. Those were the days.

Since then teachers have come and gone, students have grown up, and life has gone on. Facebook has opened up a portal for us to reconnect to old friends and old times. In some ways it answers those questions in the back of your mind when you wonder "whatever happened to so and so?" or even "what really did go on in practice rooms?" Here's a bit of thanks to helping us find each other and the chance to have a good laugh at old times. Last but not least..."GO DEALEY DRAGONS!"
