Military coup takes over Thailand-The United States spoke out against the recent coup d'etat in Thailand which resulted in the forced removal of Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.  The United States also called for the reinstitution of civilian rule in Thailand
State Department deputy spokesman Tom Casey said, "We certainly are extremely disappointed by this action. It's a step backward for democracy in Thailand."
Thailand's military seized government power in a non-violent coup on Tuesday September 20th while Shinawatra was in New York attending the opening of the U.N. General Assembly.
The new military government revoked the constitution, while promising that democracy would be reinstated after political reforms have been made.

Willie Nelson busted for possession- Early Monday morning, country singer Willie Nelson’s tour bus was pulled over in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. Nelson and several of his bandmates received misdemeanor citations for possession of marijuana. Nelson’s bust came just two days after he had called for the decriminalization of marijuana while campaigning for Texas governor candidate Kinky Friedman.
According to officials Nelson and crew were traveling along Highway 10 when they were pulled over for a routine commercial inspection. A search of the vehicle found about one and a half pounds of marijuana and a small bag of psychedelic mushrooms. “No one aboard the bus gave any of our troopers any problems,” said Willie Williams of the Louisiana Highway Patrol.
