Pierce Idol, a new show on FPC-TV25, will begin its audition process on Tuesday October 2nd at 5:30 P.M.

The auditions will be filmed live and will model the hit TV show American Idol.

Senior Jen DePaul is the creator of Pierce Idol and will be hosting every show.  DePaul is the Executive Producer for the Film and Entertainment Department of FPC-TV25.

Although Simon, Paula, and Randy won't be there, those who come out to audition will have to perform live before three faculty/staff judges, as well as those who are tuned in on campus.

DePaul chose to have faculty and staff judges that will rotate through out the weeks.  She said, "I felt faculty and staff would be more unbiased than students." Some upcoming judges will include Bill Beardslee, Elizabeth Purcell, and Peter Brodi.

DePaul said that some students have e-mailed her already, including members of the newly formed campus Gospel Choir.

"I really want students to have fun with this and get involved," she said.

Senior Tim Bigelow who is the Vice President of the Gospel Choir said that he pushing for all the members of the Choir to audition, but regardless he will definitely be there for the first show on Tuesday night.

Bigelow said, "I"m glad that somebody finally brought something like this here besides the talent show for us singers."

Bigelow is really excited about the Pierce Idol show and thinks that if some of the Gospel Choir members do audition then he will definitely have some competition.  He is sure that there is also some hidden talent on campus that will come out too.

If as many people as DePaul hopes will come, then the numbers will be eliminated and only ten will remain.  After that contestants who leave the competition will be voted off by the FPC audience.  DePaul is working on using instant messenger for casting votes.

The contest will run for 10 weeks until there is only one winner remaining.  DePaul wants to offer a prize as an incentive to audition.  She is working on collecting $100 in gift certificates from local businesses, including Dunkin Donuts, Pizza Haven, and the campus book store.

DePaul said, "It's my last semester as a senior and I wanted to do another big project like the live WFPC-TV25 telethon last year."  She said, "Going live is more of a challenge for us, but when we do it we can be really successful at it."

Derek Gorman will direct the show and DePaul will also be assisted by a number of FPC-TV members.

Pierce Idol will air live every Tuesday for the rest of the semester from 5:30-6:00 P.M. on FPC-TV channel 25.
