The New England Revolution enter the MLS in better form then recent years this season. Though they have made it to the post season for five consecutive years they have never had a squad playing as well as the one now.

Taylor Twellman has remerged over the last month to return to the scoring threat feared by everybody in the league. Though he has only put it in the net twelve times this season, he is by far the leagues leading scorer since 2002. Recently Twellman became the youngest player in league history to score 75 career goals.

The weight of the team has been on Twellman's shoulders due to forward Pat Noonan's lack of form, and the absence of Clint Dempsey much of the season due to international duty and suspension. With the return of Dempsey the attacking third of the field opened up for Twellman and allowed him to start scoring the goals everyone knows he is capable of. Dempsey has also taken much of the burden posting 8 goals in his 20 appearances.

The midfield defensively has been very solid. Andy Dorman has scored six times these season, two of them being blasts from well outside the 18 yard box. His development is crucial to replacing the hole in the offence that will be eventually left by Clint Dempsey.

Now the Revolution go into the first round of the playoffs with home field advantage and with the exception of the 2001 MLS cup Gillette stadium has treated the Revs very well in the playoffs.

Goalkeeper Matt Reis has had nine shutouts this season and will hope to continue his good play into the playoffs.
