When does it end?

What occurred Tuesday in Alabama could be the biggest steroid scandal in modern day sports but quite frankly, who cares anymore?

The Orlando based Applied Pharmacy Series was raided by authorities earlier this week after athletes were suspected of buying performance enhancing drugs which include Gary Matthews Jr., Jose Canseco and Evander Holyfield, among others. But, the truth is us sports fans are getting sick and tired of hearing about all these issues involving our favorite athletes. Yes, we know most of the athletes in the 90's and early 2000's have used steroids including my old favorite baseball player of all time, Ken Caminiti. At first I was shocked to hear the news about Killa Cam, but after all the stories began to leak from Canseco and all the evidence against Barry Bonds and his humongous head, etc. it just has become plain annoying.

What drives me crazy the most is that professional sport officials are not the ones who are investigating these things but the officials from the government are. What is this country turning into? Do these officials know that we are neck-deep in a war, New Orleans is not even close to being rebuilt, and the unemployment problem is still not solved. Yes, sports are a big deal in today's society but it is not everything. There are so many more important things in our country and the world that need more focus then our sporting events.

Even though performance enhancing drugs have casted a dark shadow above the sporting world for recent, I do not think the subject deserves all the attention it is getting by these "officials", sports writers and the fans. Yes, athletes using these drugs are wrong and deserve to be scrutinized but to be honest, the leagues should have made rules against this sort of thing years ago.

So what, a mediocre center fielder and a solid boxer are allegedly involved in yet another steroid investigation. It is not the first time i've heard a story like this and I know it certainly won't be the last.
