Go Revs. . .

The New England Revolution are one of the premier soccer clubs in the country, and once again they are poised to take their loyal fans deep into the fall.

The Revs are back with former Liverpool defender Steve Nichol tending to his flock of budding US internationals. With the youth we have already seen becoming factors in the national team under Bob Bradley, it is guaranteed that players like Andy Dorman and Jeff Larentowicz are big dots on the radar.

However, one must be realistic about the departure of Clint Dempsey, a club in England felt he was worth four million dollars, and that's exactly what we are losing. A good first round gives us hope --- Igwe is only 18 years old and will reinforce former MVP and scoring champion Taylor Twellman. Then you have potential Dempsey replacement Wells Thompson, he was the 5th overall pick in the draft and I have a lot of faith in Steve Nichol's eye for talent. Nichol spent a portion of the money he got for Dempsey on that fifth pick from LA.

Recently, Captain Joe Franchino took a leave of absence. He was a major part of everything that happened on the left side of the field. He registered 18 shots on goal and showed how aggressive he can be. However it's the defense that will be hurting the most as he was goalie Matt Reis's protection from crosses on that left flank.

The probable partnership between Dorman and Twellman will lead to good things. Twellman is without a doubt in his prime, healthy, and ready to prove he is a champion this season. While the losses of Dempsey to Europe and Noonan to hernia surgery will haunt him, one cannot doubt the former Maryland star will find a way to score goals as he has done since his arrival to MLS.

The Revolution will have to find a new spark to bring the attack together, but one must believe that a wizard of tactical soccer would not let some of his most gifted mid-field players go without a plan.
