Naughty Word Spelling Bee to be sponsored by CAB and the Franklin Pierce After Dark Program

On Thursday November 29th at 8:00 pm both the Campus Activity Board, (CAB), and the Franklin Pierce After Dark Program will be sponsoring a Naughty Word Spelling Bee hosted by the Director of Campus Ministries Bill Beardslee.

"So you want me to say these naughty words for people to spell?" This was Beardslee's response when the coordinator for the Franklin Pierce After Dark Program Caitlin Taylor asked him to be the guy to give the words to the contestants.  According to Taylor the idea is to make the event as much fun as possible.

Held in Pierce Hall, the Naughty Word Spelling Bee will have eight to ten contestants competing against one another in a traditional spelling bee format.  The contestants will be chosen randomly by a raffle drawing. Beardslee will be in charge of giving the contestants their words to spell, as well as giving away the naughty prizes.

The contestant who spells all of the naughty words correctly will be crowned as the winner.  Prizes for the event will include edible underwear and milk chocolate body paint, as well as other prizes.

According to Taylor, this is the first time CAB and Franklin Pierce After Dark have co-sponsored an event promoting safe sex. "We got the idea from going to the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA), from November 1st through the 4th," said Taylor.

This event was previously held at Eastern Connecticut and was successful, according to Taylor.  Franklin Pierce After Dark was established about a year ago. "It gets students to do other things on weekend nights than drink," said Taylor.

Promotions for the event include condoms that will be placed in students' mailboxes.  A tentative plan is to have a blow-up doll placed in the campus center with the date and time of the event written on it.

Senior Joe Boulanger said, "I think this event should be a lot of fun. I'm especially looking forward to hearing Bill Beardslee say the words to the contestants."
