A Beerpong-inspired Gatorfest will take place on Friday, December 7th at 6:30 p.m. in the Bubble with Gatorade taking the place of the usual alcoholic substances.

Gatorfest will be a tournament of Beirut, otherwise known as Beerpong, using Lemon-Lime Gatorade and six red solo cups. The standard rules of Beirut apply. The tournament is single elimination with the top teams taking home prizes donated by Walmart.

Pre-registration can be made through Karissa Hookstadt or Rob Perretta. Walk up registration begins at 6:00 p.m. that day.  Teams of two can sign up for ten dollars a team.

Gatorfest is a project inspired by Student Athletic Advisory Council to benefit the yearly on going fundraising efforts to support the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Sharon Bonaventure, SAAC faculty advisor, said, "Gatorfest was something the student athletes of SAAC have taken from Beirut. It is doing something that is commonly enjoyed by campus life and putting it towards a great cause--The Make-A-Wish Foundation."

Hookstadt, a junior on the volleyball team, said, "We came up with ideas to get students involved with SAAC. This will be a fun event students can relate to and participate in."

The idea stemmed from Beerfest, the movie and was narrowed down into one game of Beirut.

To insure participation, "Each sports team was asked to go out and find ten teams each," Hookstadt said.

Perretta, a senior ice hockey player, said, "I think it's going to be really fun. We're going to have music and a lot of money is going to be raised for Make-A-Wish."

Bonaventure said, "Anyone can participate, we have some coaching staff who are trying to learn the rules."

The goal for the SAAC's fundrasing efforts is $3000 up from the $2500 that was raised last year, which is $500 more than their starting goal. They collect the money through different efforts like the Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament at Up All Night; Pass the Hat during sporting games, Change drives, selling Super Fan tee-shirts, and a large sporting goods basket raffle.
