"Thursday Night Love Line" predicted to be new dating show on FPTV

Students in the Franklin Pierce Mass Communication program are planning to introduce a dating game show to FPTV between December and January.

Associate Producer Ashley Owen is heading up the project and hopes to have the show, tentatively named "The Thursday Night Love Line," and have it aired at least once before campus is shut down for winter break.

"I think a dating show would be hilarious," said sophomore Becky Schmidt. "I'd watch it all the time, and now that I think about it, it wouldn't be a bad way to meet people either."

Although the program is still in the works, the prospect of it has gotten positive feedback, according to Owen. "Everyone I mention it to laughs and asks if they can be a contestant," she said.

The show will consist of one male or female contestant who will be given the opportunity to question and choose from three potential dates whose identities will not be revealed until afterward. Predictably, the sexual orientation of the potential dates will depend on the contestant's preference, according to Owen.

The game itself will have two rounds, with each potential date being asked three questions per round. After each round, the contestant will eliminate one of their potential dates, and eventually meet the winner in what is expected to be an "awkward moment," according to Owen.

"It just sounds like something I'd like to get involved with," said Monadnock resident Brandon Adams. "It's something fun to do on those boring winter nights during the week, when you've got no prior obligations."

Those involved in the production of "The Thursday Night Love Line" are already in search of contestants and potential dates for the first few episodes of the show. If students would like to be on the show, they can e-mail Ashley Owen at owena@franklinpierce.edu.
