by Hilary delaBruere Senior Jordan Handy sat down with me and talked about future prospects for law school, Franklin Pierce as his "family" and his passion for meeting new people. Hd: How did you choose Franklin Pierce? JH: I liked the campus. I liked the small knit community, the small classrooms; the student professor ratio. I also loved the diversity. Hd: What exactly is your major? JH: Finance with a Pre-law track. Hd: Why did you choose this major? JH: I am very business oriented. Business can be incorporated and applied to almost anything. Also, I have always wanted to go to law school, particularly I'd like to go to a law school just like Franklin Pierce. I just took my LSATS (Law School Admission Test) on February 2. Hd: When will you receive your results? JH: February 18. I am pretty nervous. Hd: So, I assume you plan on attending law school after graduation; do you have any other plans if that falls through? JH: I plan on applying to work with some sort of finance firm. Hd: Do you think your experience at Franklin Pierce has prepared you for the real world? JH: Yes. Hd: What are some of the most beneficial experiences you have had here at Franklin Pierce? JH: Law Club and SIFE and through that I have met a lot of people, and fine-tuned my networking skills. Hd: Do you have any one accomplishment from your four years here that you are most proud of? JH: The Law Club. It has grown from a small group to about 17 members. I started the club. That was my baby. I am also very proud of being the President of SIFE, it is a whole lot of fun—I love this school just for giving me these opportunities. Hd: How have you become an active member of this campus? JH: I love meeting new people, so I got involved with SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise). I am currently the Co-President of SIFE and the President of the Law Club. I have done two seasons of lacrosse, served two years as treasurer of my class, I am involved with SGA (Student Government Association), and I host a political radio talk show, Tuesdays and Saturdays from 6-8 pm. Hd: Do you have any regrets or anything that you would change about your experience here at Pierce? JH: Maybe that I didn't take it in as much as I should have. Time is short; you don't realize how quick your years go by. I took it for granted I guess. Hd: What will you miss most about Franklin Pierce? JH: Well, this is the last time in my life I'll be able to live like this. I am going to miss the classes, and the constant friends all around. It is going to be sad to leave what has been my life for the past four years. It's a family and I'm going to miss it. Hd: Do you have any advice for underclassmen? JH: If I knew then what I know now, I would tell them to enjoy each other's differences, and just to enjoy people—and the experience, go with the flow, don't add troubles, and stay smart. Hd: Anything else you would like to add about yourself, hobbies outside of Franklin Pierce? JH: I like to play harmonica. I swim as much as
I possibly can in Winchendon. I love to interact with as many people as
much as possible. I like to run and to coach. I ran two marathons without
training for them. |
