Looking forward to a new beginning

This week most of the Franklin Pierce senior
class will be filling out paperwork down at the Registrar's Office as a
means to finalize their graduation plans. Filling out the name they want
used on their diploma, along with their weight and height for cap and gown
orders, you start to realize that the end is almost near.
I know this may seem like a sad occasion with
only 86 days left until Commencement, but it's also a good thing. Soon we
will be going out and like the good ole Franklin Pierce motto says "making a
place for ourselves." Some may go out and start brand new careers, others
may continue their studies and go on to grad school, and some may just do
their own thing.
Me? I was offered a job as an editor at a
non-profit organization in Washington, DC. Its a great opportunity, but I'm
still kind of nervous of going out on my own and starting new things,
although I spent last semester in DC. I've grown accustomed to my lifestyle
here at Franklin Pierce, the friends, the professors and all of the
activities I'm involved in like working for Reslife, on The Exchange and the
PMG.
Granted there have been bad times, but I try to only
remember the good ones because I hold them near and dear to my heart. When I
first came to FP I was the lonely girl from Texas, a stranger in a new land,
but over time I have been accepted into the
community, a place I have called home for the past four years. Soon I will
be leaving behind my "family," for uncharted territory, but I can say my
time here at Franklin Pierce has prepared me for the best and the worst. So
I look forward not to the end, but a new beginning.
