Can you outwit, outplay, and outlast?

This year's Survivor has a new "Mountain Madness" theme, new challenges that will test contestants' range of skills (maybe even a gross food challenge), and a prize of $500 for the winner.

Junior Daniel Shelley, a member of PAC that has participated in the last Survivor, said the new challenges "will include physical, mental, and emotional toughness, there also may be an endurance one as well."

"Some people have suggested they didn't want to eat gross food, so maybe we will have some gross food for a challenge,"  Shelley said.

In the past, Survivor members have participated in "relay races, different puzzles, endurance challenges such as holding a penny against the wall for the longest time possible," said Sophomore Christine Richmond, member of PAC.

Challenges for this event will take place all over campus.  "Some will be inside the bubble, some will be in Pierce Hall and some will be outdoors.  The main tribal councils will be held in the Outing Hut," said Robinson.  Shelley said, "Students will be sleeping in a disclosed location that will be announced when the contestants arrive."

The 18-20 contestants have not yet been selected.  "We are looking for a wide variety of people, skilled in several different areas," said Robinson.

Potential contestants sign up for ten minute interviews and are asked certain questions: "Why do they want to win?, What would they do with $500? Do they know anyone who signed up?  And how would they play the game?" said Shelley.

In addition, Junior Brian Shaw, another member of PAC, said that the committee will analyze contestants to "see their attributes, flaws, characteristics, and anything else which might give us an idea of how well they might fit into the Survivor game." Interviews will be conducted until the end of this week to determine the contestants.

Survivor will be filmed by members of the PAC committee.  PAC is still trying to contact the Franklin Pierce television station to see if they want to air the event.  Otherwise it will be held as a live event.

"This year's Survivor promises to be a fascinating event which I believe will draw out the best as well as the worst in people.  I believe it will forge a great number of strong friendships that will be lasting," said Shaw.  In addition to what contestant can expect, Shelley said there will be "a lot of new twists and turns that will make everyone’s mouth hit the floor."

The event will take place from March 7th to March 9th.
