Get ready for a "Superbad" day

The Class of 2010 will be presenting a "Superbad"
Day with themed activities and viewing of the movie "Superbad" on Sunday,
May 4th in a free event for everyone on campus.
"Superbad" Day is an afternoon loaded with
activities based on the hit comedy "Superbad". The events will begin
at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4th. Several events are planned for the
day including a grill-off, a trivia contest, an obstacle course, and the
showing of the movie "Superbad" on an inflatable screen on the softball
field.
"We've been working really hard on this and it should
be nice afternoon/evening," said class of 2010 president Will Clark.
The movie will be shown at 8 p.m. The inflatable screen
is close to 18 feet in height. Clark said that they are attempting to
get snacks for the viewing, such as popcorn.
The grill-off will be held throughout the day. Anything
can be cooked, registration is free and the prize for the winning grill
master is a $50 Visa gift card. Grilling can begin at anytime but
registration of grillers will be taken at 2:30 p.m. and the judges will come
around between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to declare a winner.
While the grill-off is going on, there will also be the
"Superbad" trivia contest, obstacle course, and a table handing out free
Frisbees. The "Superbad" trivia contest will begin at 3 p.m. and will
challenge participants' knowledge of "Superbad." A copy of
"Superbad"on DVD is the winning prize.
The "Superbad" obstacle course will resemble the run
the character Seth took in the movie after stealing beer from the party.
Contestants will have to carry two loaded containers of laundry detergent
through a gauntlet of recognizable obstacles, including a tent. The
individual with the fastest time will also win a copy of "Superbad" on DVD.
In honor of one of the movie's most standout
character, McLovin, there will be a table where students will be able to get
an "authentic" fake McLovin I.D. with their picture on it. Clark is even
looking into allowing students to be able to choose their own one-word name
instead of "McLovin".
"We just want people to come out and hang out together
even if they don't participate in events. It's our last Sunday before
finals," said Clark.
Clark has been fighting for this event since SGA budget
meetings were held in the fall semester and was excited to see it come
together. When Clark, a freshmen area community assistant, told his hall
about "Superbad" Day, the reactions were varied.
"It's just going to prolong people going around
obnoxiously quoting the movie like they did for movies like 'Borat' and
'Napoleon Dynamite'," proclaimed freshman Steve Flynn,. However, his
roommate, Ian McGinnes, had a different opinion about "Superbad" Day.
"Superbad" Day is going to be gnar. On second
thought, it's going to be gnarkill,” said McGinnes.
