Hometown Hero, an interview with Robbie Michaelson by Arikka Knights Exchange Staff AK: Where are you from? RM: Brookline, NH also known as B-Line, it's a small town, nothing really happens, I think the biggest story was when someone stole the porta potty… Potty Gate… that's how boring my town is. AK: What brought you to Franklin Pierce? RM: I really liked the Mass Comm. program and the Fitzwater Center. I saw a lot of opportunity in that. I also liked the community. It seemed very good, and seemed like a lot of good times. I also came to Franklin Pierce because of the feeling in my gut, and I like to listen to my organs they are usually right. AK: Obviously your major is Mass Communications, but why did you choose it? RM: I choose Mass Comm. because I have always liked writing. I tried news writing in high school and really liked it. I also chose it because there are a lot of good looking people in Mass Comm. and of course I've got to be with all the beautiful people. AK: What activities are you most involved with on campus? RM: Well I am involved with the Pierce Arrow. I am the News Editor but I also contribute as a writer to all sections. I am also involved with FP TV 25; I am an associate producer for the newscast, as well as talent and crew. I am currently working on my own show which should be airing the first episode next week. It's called The Robbie Show. I am also on the executive board for radio station. AK: Any shameless plugs for your show? RM: Right now it's in its pilot stage, it won't really get started till next semester, so be sure to tune it, it will have a lot of comedy, education, and beautiful women… I actually have a section called Robbie talks to the ladies. AK: You are also a tour guide, right? RM: Oh ya, I am also a tour guide. I am responsible for a lot of shameless PR for Franklin Pierce. AK: What is your favorite line to give to a potential student to get them more interested in the school? RM: Well I don't need a line, they take one look at me, ya know , I stretch, and, ya know, my shirt comes up a little higher, and once they see my abs they are in… they are hooked… of course that's for the girls. The guys, I just tell them it's a good time. AK: If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why? RM: Hugh Heffner?? No, just kidding. I would probably like to meet Buddha; he was a cool guy, nice guy, lots of good food. Or maybe Gandhi, he was a peaceful guy, Or maybe Abe Lincoln. There's so many people to meet, so many people who have had an influence on history, I can't really choose. AK: What do you like to do for fun in your free time here on campus or at home? RM: I really enjoy video games when I feel like being a nerd and being anti-social. I like to do anything new & exciting, anything out of the ordinary. I like to go out and have a good time. I like to write, especially humoristic writing. That's basically what I do for fun. AK: What is a difficult challenge you have had to overcome and how did you do it? RM: Honestly, overcoming shyness. In high school I was a wicked shy kid, and one day I realized it was dumb. I am still working on it. AK: What is your most proud accomplishment? RM: I honestly don't know… I guess maybe taking advantage of the college experience, and becoming involved, and starting my life. Oh, and one time I counted how many times I could lick a tootsie roll pop, and I did it long enough that my tongue bled, the number of licks was in the thousands. AK: Everyone has a most embarrassing moment, would you be willing to share yours? RM: I don't get embarrassed easily, but my first play was Guys and Dolls, it was a performance for a local theater. I was a gangster named Joey. I totally forgot my lines, and instead of adlibbing, I completely froze and went back stage and cried. I was in like 6th or 7th grade. I just froze like a penguin. AK: If you could describe yourself in three words what would they be? RM: Ummmm…. Energetic, happy, and musculartastic. AK: How about a few more quick fun facts… favorite food? RM: That's tough… what makes my mouth water like Niagara Falls? Oh! BBQ Ribs! I would like kill a man for a set of BBQ ribs. AK: Favorite movie? RM: That's tough, too… Surfing Ninjas, it's a classic. AK: Worst fear? RM: I'm kind of scared of dolls and clowns, but my greatest fear is that something will happen to my friends or family. AK: Biggest pet peeve? RM: I have so many! I would have to say rude people. People are just so miserable with their own lives they feel like they have to make other people miserable too, kind of like the Grinch Stole Christmas, except they are stealing good moods… oh, and I can't stand popped collars. AK: To end on a bit more serious note, what advice do you have for underclassman or incoming students? RM: Work hard, become involved, and give me money… I will make sure your college career is successful if you do. AK: anything else you would like to add? RM: the only thing I would like to add is
buttery smooth, that pretty much sums up my life. |
