HD: What is your title here at Franklin Pierce?

SJ: Visiting Professor in Fine Arts

HD: How long have you been a part of the Franklin Pierce community?
SJ: Since August

HD: What classes do you mainly teach at the college and elsewhere?

SJ: Drawing, three-dimensional design, and Art History.  I've taught a class in Creativity at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.  And I taught a class in Italy for a summer: "Landmark of early Italy."

HD: Where did you grow up?

SJ: I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia but I was born in Hawaii.  My mother met my father there.  Hew was in the Marine Corps. And she was on vacation.

HD: So, what do you consider home?

SJ:  Well, right now, I call Vermont home. (Newfane to be exact).

HD: Where did you attend college and what did you study?

SJ: I went to Dartmouth and studies Art and Women's studies for my undergrad. I got my MFA in painting at Rutgers University.  In between, I got my teacher certification to teach in public schools at Massachusetts College of Art.

HD: What were your goals, and ambitions when graduating college?

SJ:  I just wanted to make art and support myself somehow.

HD: What do you like to do, outside of Franklin Pierce?

SJ: Play with my children! (James and Isabelle; four-year-old twins). Make art, mostly drawing, painting and collage.

HD: Do you make art for yourself or do you promote it?

SJ: Well, I have my own website. http://www.susanjarvis.com/.  And it showcases my work.  I try to do a series of work every year.

HD: What is your favorite travel spot?

SJ: Italy!

HD:  Is there anything special that you would like to share about yourself?

SJ: I don't eat as many vegetables as I should! J
