Time for girls to get in the game

We've all seen the commercials: a group of guys crowded around the TV watching a football game, or playing video games while their girlfriends are in another room doing their own thing. That's just the stereotype.  It's unfortunate too, because imagine the time a couple could spend together if they BOTH picked up the Playstation controller or went into Boston to see a Red Sox or Celtics game.  It might sound crazy, but if you're in a relationship, and need to make things interesting, what's better than a little competition?

I'm sure there are a lot of girls who are saying they're all set, but who knows you, might find a new hobby or find out something you didn't know about your boyfriend.  A little competition could spice things up a bit, and if you beat him playing Mario Kart it's a good way to see how a guy can handle being beaten by his girlfriend. As for sports, you'd be amazed with some of the things guys say during the intense moments of the 4th quarter or the bottom of the 9th inning. You might get a laugh out of his reactions.  And just imagine how much attention you'd get out of him if you were sporting his favorite team's colors.

However, not all the effort falls on the girl's shoulders. A common complaint from guys is the constant need to explain everything about the game.  Just "man-up." Guys just have to be more patient in this situation, and in the long run it will only work out for the best.  Eventually, you won't have to explain anything and it will strengthen the communication between the two of you.  Then who knows, maybe you won't take so much flak for hogging the TV.

Now if you girls are thinking "what can I get my boyfriend to do with me?" you can try switching back and forth between The Hills and the Sox game.  In either situation, the moral of the story is to make some accommodations.  To translate for you guys: it's a good way to get brownie points.  And if you keep your ears open, you might learn something in the process.
