Paul Clifford, "like the big red dog," is the CA of Northwoods, President of Gay Straight Alliance, a Safe Space trainer, he is on the Diversity comity and the Unity Comity. Paul is a new member of Socrates Cafe and the Eco club. Of all the many clubs and responsibilities that Paul has he has been involved with GSA and being a CA the longest.
Audra Clark: Of everything you participate in what means the most to you?
Paul Clifford: GSA because I have been in it since freshman year. When I came to the school I identified myself as bi-sexual. It became my second home, I met a lot of really cool people and some great friendships stemmed out of that. It gave me the courage to come out as a homosexual.
I hope I can make the members of the club feel more safe and secure and comfortable with their sexual identity or as an ally.
AC: What do you participate in that you feel serves the community as a whole the most?
PC: Safe Spaces because it was created to educate and train members of the Franklin Pierce community to create a safe and welcoming atmosphere to anyone who identifies with the GLBTQ and allied community by providing a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen to, and resources to direct them further.
AC: What is your favorite color?
PC: Jay-Z Blue because I find it interesting that someone can buy their own color and anytime anyone uses it he makes money.
AC: What’s your favorite Band?
PC: I have two. Dave Mathew’s Band because the music is really mellow and Spice Girls because they’re hot and amazing.
AC: What is something quirky about yourself that most people don’t know?
PC: I used to eat pancakes everyday of my life. From the time I was three to high school my mother woke up every morning to make them for me.
AC: What is your favorite quote?
PC: "Dream as if you'll live forever; live as if you'll die tomorrow." –James Dean. It is my favorite quote because I live by it. I like quotes that lift you up in the beginning and then bring you down so you don’t know how to feel.
AC: What is your favorite movie?
PC: The Lion King, it’s a great parallel to life and Timon and Pumbaa are just funny.
AC: What is your favorite season?
PC: Fall because my birthday is in the fall, the leaves are changing colors, apples are ripe for the picking and there’s no snow on the ground (knock on wood.)
AC: Any future plans?
PC: I want to get a tattoo on the bottom of my foot that says "Made in China."
AC: What do you want to be when you grow up?
PC: My passion lies in the environmental field but I am not limiting myself to one profession.
AC: Anything else you would like to add?
PC: The best
experience I ever had was The Walk. Shout out to the Walkers '07. It was the
best because we lived day by day on the basic necessities and each others
company. We experienced new things together and eventually we assimilated into a
family. I want to have experiences as I did on The Walk, around each corner was
sight to be seen and an experience to be had.
