New library director has big new plans

Carissa Delizio wants to turn the Franklin Pierce library into a friendlier, coffee shop environment for students to study in.

Delizio, the new director of the library, is looking spice up the library. The finished product would involve vending machines, a small café in the library, and focus groups for students to take part in. There are no definite dates as to when these changes will occur, but Delizio has spoken with Provost Kim Mooney to see what can be done.

"It will definitely make the library nicer to go to," said junior Brigit Arell.  "It would be convenient to not have to walk to the cafeteria, and I would use the library more often."

Ryan Caouette, a junior, said, "I work here so I know I would use it more, I think the rules of the library would have to change to keep it a quiet working area. I think it would be good because the library has not changed for a long time."

When asked how the library is currently equipped and ranks with other schools, Delizio said that "everything is up to date and the staff works hard making sure the students get help with their needs."

Delizio, who is from Connecticut and formerly employed at Briarwood College, has only been on campus since the start of the semester.
