Men's Basketball team ready for tip-off

With "Rage in Da Cage" officially over, full focus now turns to the upcoming Franklin Pierce's men's basketball season.

The home opener against UMass Lowell is just under two weeks away, when it will be played on November 19th with a 7:30 tip off.

"The team looks very good. They worked hard in conditioning and are continuing to improve daily in practice," said Head Coach Dave Chadbourne.

Improvement will be needed this year after the team recorded a 10-17 overall record, which included being 6-16 in conference play. "I think we have improved a lot since last year. We had a lot of injuries which changed the dynamics of the team, but now we have everyone back and have added some quality guys as well," said Chadbourne.

Chadbourne is entering his 10th season as Franklin Pierce's head men's basketball coach. In his tenure, he has posted a career 104-120 record and has led the Ravens to seven NE-10 tournaments. He also has guided many players to individual accomplishment, coaching six NE-10 players and 4 NE-10 All Rookie team members.

On the upside, the Ravens have had both of their leading scorers return. Senior Timothy Munch led the Ravens in scoring last year with 13.8 points per game, followed by sophomore Kinard Dozier, who averaged just over 11 points a game. Dozier, also a Northeastern 10 All Rookie team member last year, led the Ravens in assists with 72.

"As long as we stay healthy and have our full squad, I believe we can be an upper level team in the NE-10. Our goal is to reach the NCAA tournament, but on a smaller day to day scale, our goal is to improve as individuals and as a team," said Chadbourne

The Ravens open the season on November 15th away vs. Nyack College. For full schedule information visit the Franklin Pierce University athletics page.
