Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act

(COBRA)

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1986 is a federally mandated program that allows for continuation of medical, dental and vision benefits for eligible employees and/or dependents who are losing the employer-provided insurance. The loss of the benefits due to a change in circumstances resulting in "qualifying event," entitles employees to temporarily extend insurance coverage.

When an employee has a qualifying event, name and address details are sent to the Administrator who will reach out to the affected members.

Franklin Pierce University's COBRA Benefit Administrator is Group Dynamic, Inc. All COBRA benefit questions should be directed to the Administrator at (207) 781-8800 or (800) 626-3539 toll free.

For more facts and information regarding COBRA regulations, visit the United States Department of Labor website for fact sheets and other details.
