Director of Information Technology

Location: Rindge, NH


The Division of Information Technology at Franklin Pierce University, the College at Rindge, NH, is seeking applications for a full-time Director of Information Technology, commencing June 2018.  We are an institution that is committed to liberal arts and sciences, and focuses on preparing students to be stewards and leaders of conscience who will make significant contributions to their professions and communities both locally and globally.  Franklin Pierce invites expressions of interest for the integral position of Director of Information Technology. The Director reports to the University Vice President of Finance.


Position Description:

Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the information and educational technology infrastructure for the University, this hands-on role will also strategically plan for the evolution of FPU technology and applications to the next level. Guiding the department, this leader will support teaching, learning, scholarship, and project management operations, as well as to engage students, staff, and faculty in the uses of technology. 


Specific Responsibilities:


Oversight of all aspects including the functions of the computer network, desktop support services, helpdesk operations; telecommunications support services, cable TV operations, and application support.

- Provide direction for members of the IT Team.

Collaborate with administration, faculty, staff and students regarding technology resources and needs.


Oversee budgeting planning and financial oversight.


Negotiate advantageous agreements with vendors as appropriate for the University.

- Create infrastructure that supports online learning and collaboration.


Required Experience:

- A Bachelorís degree in Information Technology or a similar discipline; Masterís degree a plus.
- At least five yearsí experience in senior level leadership in a business or academic environment.
- Progressively responsible professional experience in the management of information technology, in a higher education environment is preferable.
-  A deep understanding of pedagogical issues related to teaching, learning, and scholarship.


Required Skills:

-  Innovative ideas about IT infrastructure.
- A thorough knowledge of appropriate IT hardware, software, Web-based development tools, and multimedia applications in instruction.
- Knowledge and understanding in the following areas: TCP/IP protocol suite; familiarity with infrastructure components such as wiring, routers, firewalls, and switches; system administration of Microsoft Servers, system security and recovery. 

Have the ability and knowledge to work with network security and network management applications as well as devices and database applications.


The ability to travel locally and nationally for the University; possess a clean and valid driverís license.
