Social Wellness
Tips & Facts
Explore your city. Make a point of visiting one new place in
your city each month.
Talk to someone new. Initiate a conversation with someone you
don’t know or have only met briefly. You may be surprised to
discover common interests and a wealth of information.
Join a club or organization that interests you.
Respect others’ points of view: You may not agree with someone’s
viewpoint, but try to listen nonetheless. You will learn a lot
about where that person is coming from, and you may learn
something about yourself.
Volunteer within your community. Help an elderly person get out
into the community; donate food to your local food bank;
participate in charity functions.
A strong social network can create a good mood and enhance
self-esteem.
Laughter really is good medicine.
Warm, close friendships increase levels of immunoglobulin A (an
antibody that helps keep away respiratory infections and
cavities).
