Registering Your Computer on the Network
In an effort to optimize the performance and management of the student network, all students are required to register their computers on the Franklin Pierce Network. The college is providing AVG Anti-Virus software for all student computers. This must be installed and running before your computer will be allowed to access the internet.
This process take a minimum of two reboots of your computer. Follow all the instruction carefully
Installation of AVG software is mandatory even though you may have other anti-virus software installed (Norton, Trend, MacAfee, etc) In order to register your computer these programs must be either totally disabled or uninstalled. Once you are registered it is your choice to turn them back on or reinstall them.
To register you computer:
Note 1: If you already have AVG on your computer it needs to be uninstalled. You must do this manually before you start the registration process: Control Panel → Add/Remove Programs → find AVG → Click on it and then click the remove button that appears. Reboot your computer and follow the steps below.
Note 2: If you have a wireless network card you must disable it. Control Panel → network and internet connections → network connections → right-click wireless network then click disable. After registering you can enable the wireless card if you like. You can use wireless on campus but only at the campus center and in the library.
Note 3: Check to make sure the date and time are correct on your computer.
