Student Employment Program

Supervisors

Due to the social distancing protocols, all student employment paper work will be handled electronically. We are asking that you do not send students to the Human Resources Department to complete their paperwork, rather they should reach out to us by phone or email. We will also be arranging times for them to Zoom with us to ask questions and/or provide us with information. If they have any questions they can reach out to us at (603)899-4075 or via email at hrdept@franklinpierce.edu.

We are also available from 8:30am to 4:00pm via our

Virtual Lobby

What to do First

Please review our Student Employment Guide.

Submit Student Employment Position Request to jobs@franklinpierce.edu.We are required to have a position req. for every unique position that we offer to students each academic year.

If you would like to have the position posted, be sure to indicate that on the form. All jobs posted will be entered into the Jazz HR system and you will be set up as the hiring manager so that you can view the applications. If there is anyone else that should have access to the resumes please include their name in the email that you send with the position request.

Review the posting on Jazz HR and review resumes. Click here for Instructions on how to use Jazz HR.

Once you have identified students that you wish to hire, send an email to jobs@franklinpierce.edu to let us know that you are ready to hire and who you are hiring. If they have worked previously, Human Resources will verify all of the paperwork is complete and email you a work paper for you to complete and sign.

If they have not worked previously we will email them with links to the Student New Hire Forms that they will need to complete and return by email to hrdept@franklinpierce.edu. We will schedule a Zoom meeting with the students to review their documents and IDs. Once that is done we will send a work paper to the supervisor to complete and email to the student.

Once the work paper has been sent to you, you must complete the entire bottom section, including Job Title, Department Name, Department Account #, check off which semester the student will be working, # of hours and Pay Rate. The work paper must be signed by the supervisor and have the name of the person responsible for approving timecards in Star Garden.

The supervisor will then send the signed work paper to the student for signature. They can either electronically sign or they can print out and sign the form. (They will need to save the document with another name in order to electronically sign it.) The student must email the signed work paper to hrdept@franklinpierce.edu before they can begin working. As their supervisor, it is important to confirm that this has been done before adding them to the schedule.

Please note:

No student can begin working until a work paper, including signatures by Human Resources, the Supervisor, and the student has been received by the Human Resources Department.

All student hours worked must be entered into StarGarden on a bi-weekly basis following the deadlines provided by the payroll department. (Bi-Weekly Payroll Calendar)

You must approve all time cards in Star Garden by the due dates set by the payroll department. Contact Kerry Bergeron in the Payroll Department with any questions regarding timecards or paychecks.

There is a 2 hour work minimum for each shift.

If driving is required for the position please note that the student must have a minimum of 3 years of driving history and complete a MVR Permission Letter.

Any student under the age of 18 years old must present a signed NH DOL Parental Permission form to Human Resources before completing the new hire paperwork.

Student workers cannot exceed 19 hours per week for all of their jobs combined.

If you are hiring an International Student on a F1 Visa, there will be other requirements (see the  International Student Employment Fact Sheet)
