Steps for Supervisors and Hiring Managers of Student Employment

  1. Review the Student Employment Pay Scale, note the minimum hourly wage and pay ranges.
  2. Submit a Student Employment Position Request for every position you are hiring for to hrdept@franklinpierce.edu.
  3. All jobs are posted into the JazzHR system.
  4. Review the posting in JazzHR and review resumes. Click here for Instructions on how to use JazzHR.
  5. Students with Federal Work Study (FWS) have priority for hire.
  6. Once you have identified student(s) to hire, click the Hire button in JazzHR.
  7. If the student has worked for FPU before, Human Resources will verify all required employee paperwork is complete. Skip to step 9.
  8. If the student has not worked for FPU before, HR will email links to the Student New Hire Forms. These must completed and returned by email to hrdept@franklinpierce.edu. We will schedule a virtual meeting with the student(s) to review their documents and IDs or they may come into the Human Resources Office.
  9. The Supervisor and the Student must complete the Work Paper.
  10. The Work Paper must be signed and emailed to hrdept@franklinpierce.edu, or brought into Human Resources in DiGregario hall before the student can begin work.
  11. Human Resources will send a Work Paper to the supervisor to complete the entire bottom section. It must be signed by the supervisor and have the name of the person responsible for approving timecards in StarGarden.

Please note:

·         No student can begin working until a Work Paper, including signatures by Human Resources, the Supervisor, and the student, has been received by the Human Resources Department.

·         All student hours worked must be entered into Star Garden on a bi-weekly basis following the deadlines provided by the payroll department. (Bi-Weekly Payroll Calendar)

·         You must approve all timecards in StarGarden by the due dates set by the payroll department. Contact Kerry Bergeron in the Payroll Department with any questions regarding timecards or paychecks.

·         There is a 2-hour minimum for each shift.
