Mutual of Omaha Short Term Disability (STD)
Short Term Disability (STD) is when an unexpected injury or illness keeps you out of work for a short period of time, STD insurance can help replace lost wages and can be an important part of personal financial planning.

STD insurance covers sickness, disease, disorders,
conditions, including pregnancy, which require treatment
and documentation by a physician. Disability must begin
while you are insured under the policy. |

This benefit is fully paid for by Franklin Pierce
University to all eligible exempt and non-exempt
employees. Eligibility begins the first of the month
following 30 days of active full-time employment. You
are eligible if you are regularly scheduled to work 40
hours a week. |

Benefits begin after 7 days of disability. Employees
will be paid 66.67% of weekly earnings up to a maximum
of $2,500 per week for up to 25 weeks. Maternity
coverage is typically 6 weeks for a normal birth and 8
weeks for a c-section or complicated birth. |

STD benefits are reduced by other income you receive
(Social Security, State Disability Benefits, Pensions
Benefits, Workers Compensation). |

Disability claims will be reviewed by, and decisions
made by Mutual of Omaha. |

Mutual of Omaha Long Term Disability (LTD)
Long term disability (LTD) insurance will cover you after you have
exhausted Short Term Disability (STD) coverage. LTD provides financial
protection should you experience a serious illness or injury that
prevents you from returning to work for an extended time.

Long term disability (LTD)
coverage is designed to replace a portion of your
earnings if you are unable to work due to a non-work
related illness or injury. |

This benefit is funded by
Franklin Pierce University and provided through Mutual
of Omaha. LTD benefits begin after 180 days of
disability. |

While out on LTD you will
receive 60% of pre-disability earnings to a maximum of
$10,000 per month up to Social Security Normal
Retirement Age. |
