Benefit
This
benefit is provided to eligible employees and can be used to pursue your
own undergraduate or graduate degree, or for your spouse/partner, or for
your college aged student dependents. Franklin Pierce provides a variety
of options. Depending on your needs, each option is outlined with the
steps required.

Your spouse/domestic partner will need to apply to attend
Franklin Pierce. Apply for admission online at
Undergraduate Application for Admission. Once they have been
accepted to attend Franklin Pierce, they will be assigned a
Student ID#. |

Your spouse/domestic partner will need to apply and be accepted
into a graduate program. Apply for admission for Graduate
classes by visiting
Graduate Application for Admission. Once accepted, they will
be assigned a Student ID#. |
Once the Student ID# is available, complete the
Education Benefit Application form
on behalf of your spouse/domestic partner. Forward to
Human Resources within three months of start of class. |

Benefit for your College Aged Dependent Student:
For your
college aged student dependent, there are two options available for
tuition benefits. The first option is to attend Franklin Pierce
University, the second to participate in our tuition exchange
scholarship program.
Option 1: Franklin Pierce University Benefit for your Dependent (up to
age 26 years old):

If your student has their undergrad degree with Franklin Pierce,
you will already have completed their
Student Eligibility
Form. If not, complete and forward to Human Resources. |
Your student will need to apply to attend Franklin Pierce by
reaching out to our Admissions Counselors at
Undergraduate Application for Admission. Once they have
started working with Admissions, they will be assigned a Student
ID#. |

program by visiting

Once the Student ID# is available, complete the
Education Benefit Application form

Option 2: Tuition Exchange Program - Your Dependent Only (up to age 26
years old):

Franklin
Pierce University participates in three different exchange programs –
CIC, NHCUC or TE. Rules surrounding these programs differs slightly.

As
the parent, you must have completed three years full-time employment
with Franklin Pierce.

The students must be your IRS tax dependent. You may be required to
provide proof of their IRS status.

The students must be eligible for admission into the importing
school (Franklin Pierce University is considered the exporting
school in this instance).

The importing school will likely require that your students resides
on campus throughout their academic terms.

Students are responsible for all non-tuition charges including room,
board, fees, books etc.

Awards for scholarships are determined by the importing school –
Franklin Pierce can only approve your student to be eligible for the
exchange program.

Some general information regarding the tuition exchange program:

The
number of employees allowed to apply for one of the exchange
scholarships is based on maintaining Franklin Pierce University's
balance within the programs. This is factored on our imports and exports
of students. Note, participating institutions do have the option to
refuse acceptance of additional students from Franklin Pierce if they
believe that an excessive imbalance exists between students received and
students sent.
Our
ability to award scholarships to Franklin Pierce or any of the other
participating institutions is always subject to change at any time
without prior notification.

Our
graduate studies is available to you, your spouse/domestic partner, and
student dependents. However, there are tax implications associated with
these benefits.
As an
employee, you are eligible to take graduate classes, up to the IRS
allowable value for the year. If your courses taken goes over that IRS
value, then imputed income will be applied after for each class taken
until the end of the calendar year.
Your
spouse/domestic partner or student dependent:
These
classes are covered at 50% and the remainder of that class value is
payable by you or your dependent. You will also be charged imputed
income for the value of their classes. Please refer to IRS regulations
(Publication 970-Tax Benefit for Education) for more information.
